• Many function words such as articles (a, an, the), modals and auxiliaries (can, do, does, has, etc.), prepositions (from, to, at, etc.), pronouns and possessive adjectives (my, his, your, etc.) and conjunctions (but, or etc.) are pronounced with both strong and weak forms.

 • When a function word emphasises important information or appears at the end of a sentence, it's often pronounced with a strong form.
