Food and Sports A healthy diet is very important to provide our bodies with all the nutrients they need when we work out and play sports. Eating for Sports We all need energy. Foods rich in carbohydrates such as bread, rice, pasta and potatoes are excellent sources of energy. When we eat these foods, our bodies store the carbohydrates in out muscles. The muscles use carbohydrates as their fuel. The more we exercise, the more carbohydrates we need. Foods with protein such as meat, fish, and milk are also good sources of energy. These types of foods also help our muscles grow and repair themselves. Athletes eat a diet high in protein to make their muscles and bones stronger. Drinking for Sports When it comes to doing sports and working out, it is important for us to drink enough water. The reason is that we lose a lot of water through sweating or breathing when we exercise. We must remember to: . drink some water before we start exercising. . always keep some water with us during exercising. . drink some water when we finish the workout. |

Living in an eco-house
There is not much oil, gas and coal left, and energy costs are increasing. Burning these types of energy releases harmful chemicals that cause global warming. Therefore, we have to make changes before it is too late, and building eco-houses is an effective solution.
Eco-houses are becoming popular all over the world. They use the sun’s energy to make electricity, even on cloudy or rainy days. This kind of energy does not put harmful chemicals into the air, so it does not add to the problem of global warming. These houses are warm in winter and cool in summer. Natural products like sheep’s wool and recycled paper in the walls keep the heat in when it is cold outside. Also, their smart design and roofs that reflect light help them stay cool during hot months. As a result, you can use less central heating or air conditioning and save up to £500 on energy bills each year. Many eco-houses also have green roofs where plants can grow. This helps create fresher air and adds a unique natural beauty to urban areas.
To sum up, eco-houses use little energy and help protect the environment. These are great reasons to consider buying a home of the future and make our world a greener and prettier place.

Clean ENERGY
Burning oil, gas and coal makes 64% of the electricity we need. However, burning them releases dangerous chemicals which pollute the air. Also, they are non-renewable resources, so once we burn them all, there will be no more left to use. This means that we must find and use different types of energy which are renewable and don’t cause air (1) _______.
SUN
The amount of the sun’s energy that hits the Earth every hour is enough to power the world for a whole year. In sunny countries, solar panels - special pieces of metal - can change sunlight (2) _______ electricity. We can find solar panels on the rooftops or on solar farms.
WIND
Did you know that the largest wind turbine in the world is 280 metres tall? We can use the wind’s power by building wind farms in windy places. (3) _______ we do this, we can produce a lot of electricity. In the NOrth Sea, there are over 41 wind farms with 2,630 wind turbines.
WATER
Farmers were the first to build dams across rivers or lakes to bring water to their fields. Today, we can use dams for energy. We can make the water go through tunnels in the dam and use the power of water to (4) _______ electricity. This type of power can produce a lot of energy for a low cost.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites
The UNESCO World Heritage List contains over 1,100 sites that are important to culture or nature. Here are two of our planet’s natural wonders.
Surtsey Island, Iceland
UNESCO made Surtsey Island a World Heritage Site in 2006. Surtsey is an island, but sixty years ago it wasn’t even there. It came up out of the sea in the 1960S. Nobody lives there. The only visitors were a few scientists. They wanted to see what would happen if they let things grow naturally, so they didn’t bring any pants or animals to the island. Over time, they noticed that the wind and sea brought other pant life to the island, and birds carried insects, and small creatures there. Bo visitors can go there because it’s a big science experiment and UNESCO protects it.
Subantartic Islands, New Zealand
UNESCO put these five islands on the World Heritage List in 1998. Nowadays, no one lives on them anymore. The weather is too cold and windy to grow plants for food. Scientists visit them to study and tourists visit them to see amazing wildlife. There are birds such as the world's smallest penguins and large albatrosses with a wingspan of 3.3 meteres. There are also seals, sea lions and whales in the sea off the coast. Many of the animals and birds there don’t live anywhere else o Earth.

Quần đảo cận Nam Cực, New Zealand

FOOTBALL AROUND THE WORLD
As the world’s most popular sport, football brings people together. That’s why people call it “the King of Sports” or “the Beautiful Game”. Let’s look at two countries where football is part of their culture.
ENGLAND
Football isn’t England’s national sport, but it’s the most played and watched game in the country. The English Premier League is the most watched sports league in the world with famous teams like Liverpool and Manchester United. People support their local team or a team in the Premier League, and sometimes both. Many footballers play in “Sunday league football” or 5-a-side teams on smaller fields. England’s national football tem was the champions of the 1996 FIFA World Cup and they finished iin fourth place in 1990 and 2018.
BRAZIL
Football isn’t Brazil national sport, but it’s the most popular sport in the country and Brazilians are crazy about it. Thomas Danohoe, a Scottish man brought football to Brazil in the 1890s. Brazilians play football every where, from the streets to the beaches. Brazil has many famous clubs, such as Palmeiras and Santos. Matches often attract crowds of up to 70,000 people. When the national team plays, the whole country watches. Brazil’s national football team has won the most world championships. The team was five-time winners of the FIFA World Cup in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002.
